AES cartridges are made of two boards:
Home console cartridge, with pretty label and no vents.
*The PROG board which holds the [[P ROM|P]] (68k code) and [[V ROM|V]] (samples) ROMs.
*The CHA board which holds the [[C ROM|C]] (sprite graphics), [[V ROM|V]] (z80 code) and [[S ROM|S]] (fix graphics) ROMs.


A [[NEO-ZMC2]] chip is used to pre-decoded [[sprite graphics format|sprite graphics]] (and fix ?) to be output to the cartridge edge. It is also used to direct the [[YM2610|ADPCM-A and ADPCM-B]] data requests to one V ROM.
Contains a {{Chipname|NEO-ZMC2}} or {{Chipname|PRO-CT0}} chip, contrary to [[MVS cartridge]]s. This is the reason why [[MVS to AES convertors]] can't be passive devices.


This is the main difference with [[MVS cartridge]] and is the reason [[MVS to AES convertors]] were made.

Contains a NEO-ZMC2 or PRO-CT0 chip, contrary to MVS cartridges. This is the reason why MVS to AES convertors can't be passive devices.
