NGH number

From NeoGeo Development Wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

The NGH is a number assigned by SNK for each game, serving as an unique identifier for a title. It was printed on inserts and cartridge ROM chips, and stored in the 68k program header as a 16-bit word in BCD format at address $108. Some later unlicensed games and bootlegs use a hex value.

Its uniqueness is important for the proper operation of saves, highscores, bookkeeping and probably other things.
